The North Hants Yeomanry were dressed as hussars from the re-raising of the Yeomanry in 1830. This surviving shako is in the same style as the light dragoons of the regular cavalry. It is black beaver with silver lace and gold cap-lines. This photo comes from a page in the notebooks of P W Reynolds (1934). The item was at the regimental museum, said to have belonged to Sir William Heathcote, commandant of the North Hants Yeomanry. The Maltese Cross badge on the front has gilt edges and the arms of the cross are filled with silver beading. The device in the middle is a silver rose inside a gilt circle inscribed NORTH HANTS YEOMANRY.
