This cover or frontispiece of a contemporary pamphlet has a small illustration of a private of the Hampshire Carabiniers on duty near the camp. The details of the uniform are sketchy but the date of January 1892 does confirm the use of the spiked helmet at that time. The tunic appears to have white facings but they were not introduced until 1903 so this is the all blue tunic worn for normal duty with short white gloves.
