The Yeomanry

Officer’s Pouch

The light dragoon pouch and pouch-belt had been worn at least since 1853, the year that the North Hants Yeomanry became the Hampshire Yeomanry Cavalry. The foliated lettering here is HYC so would not be earlier than 1853. The Queen Victoria crown dates it before 1902. The pouches produced after that date continued to use the HYC lettering but had a King’s crown above. The pouch was attached to a pouch-belt made of buff morocco leather laced with gold and having a white central silk stripe. The chains and pickers, and other fittings were silver.
