The Yeomanry

Drum c1930

This drum on display at the regimental museum is a large bass drum used by the time beater. Cavalry bands did not have a Corps of Drums like infantry regiments so the only drums in the band were this and one or two snare drums. Photos of the band in 1907 and 1912 show the bass drum and one snare drum. The drum shown here has the battle honours for World War One and displays the title of the regiment as the Warwickshire Yeomanry Hussars indicating that the date is c1930. The basic colour appears yellow but was probably white when it was first used.
