The Yeomanry

Cap Badge

The Bear and Ragged Staff is the crest of the Earls of Warwick. It subsequently became the symbol of the County of Warwickshire. It was first worn as a silver badge on officer's forage caps in 1902, then on the slouch hats in Jan 1903. A bronze version was used on the khaki forage cap and gilding metal badges were worn from 1911 onwards. The version pictured here was worn during the Boer War when the regiment were titled the Warwickshire Imperial Yeomanry.
