The Yeomanry

Guidon 1958

The Warwickshire and Worcestershire Yeomanry was formed in 1956 and in 1958 the combined regiment received this guidon. It has 16 battle honours on the side showing here. The other side would have had the World War 2 battle honours and any other honours from WW1 to make it up to 16. There is also, at the bottom of the guidon an artillery badge with a battle honour for N W EUROPE, gained by the Worcestershire Yeomanry who were converted to artillery in 1920 and in 1938 re-designated as an Anti-Tank Regiment, used to good effect in the Ardennes Offensive. The centre of the guidon has the bear and ragged staff badge of the Warwickshire Yeomanry with a wreath around it of pear blossom, the symbol of Worcestershire. Queen Elizabeth's crown is above the circular regimental title.
