The Yeomanry


George Guy Greville, 4th Earl of Warwick ADC


George Guy Greville was born on 28th Mar 1818, styled Lord Brooke. He was born in Berkeley Square, London but lived at Warwick castle which he renovated and restored, especially after the fire of 1871. He had the Great Hall rebuilt in Gothic style and filled the castle with a huge collection of antique armour. He stood as Tory MP for South Warwickshire from 1845 until 1853 in which year he inherited the title of Earl of Warwick when his father, the 3rd Earl, died on 10th Aug. He was Colonel Commandant of the Warwickshire Yeomanry from 6th Mar 1848 until 9th June 1880. He was appointed Honorary Colonel of the regiment from that year until his death on 2nd Dec 1893. He also held the appointment of ADC to the Queen.
