Captain Rudolf Valentine was the squadron commander of C Squadron at the famous charge at Huj in Gaza. He was killed at this battle and was the only officer of the Warwickshire Yeomanry to die that day, although most were badly injured. His name is on the war memorial at Snitterfield. He lived at Old House Farm, Heath End. He served in the Boer War as well as the First World War. He was a local JP, married with 3 sons.
