The Yeomanry

Officer's Sleeve Ornaments c1895

The final form of the dress uniform had changed very little since the 1840s. The sleeve ornamentation, however, differed in that the Russia braid on the jacket cuff was now arranged around an Austrian knot that was formed from silver cord instead of the larger type of braid. Conversely, the sleeve of the blue pelisse had the braid formed around the larger type of Russia braid whereas formerly there was a cord knot. The pattern of the braiding was basically similar but less flamboyant. The fur on the pelisse was black astrakan.
