The Yeomanry

Officer's Undress Sabretache

The plain black leather sabretache was decorated with a silver rose only. There was never a crown as on the dress version. This pattern was used from the early days and continued until c1900 when the item was abolished. The back of the sabretache shows how the pocket was fastened, and a strap to insert the sword scabbard to stabilise it when the horse was galloping.
