Beret and Collar Badges

The lugs behind this bi-metal cap badge indicate that it was worn on a beret which dates it as WW2 or after. The smaller badges either side are for the collar. Photos of other ranks of the Cheshire Yeomanry in the early years of the 20th century show collar badges being worn on no.1 dress and khaki service dress. The dress uniform did not have collar badges. Officers in WW1 wore bronze collar badges on their service dress but other ranks had the buttoned up collar without badges until smart khaki service dress was introduced after WW2.
