Private in Field Service Cap c1915

The Cheshire Yeomanry were changed to a dismounted unit in 1916 but this painting was made earlier. The private has spurs and a leather bandolier which mark him out as a cavalryman. The scarlet field service cap also signified that he served in a cavalry regiment. He has no rank badges but is a qualified signaller, denoted by the crossed flags badge on his left sleeve.
