Private Henry Thornton


Henry Thornton was born in 1878 in the family home in Lower Bridge Street, Chester. He enlisted in the 21st Company, 2nd Bn IY but, along with 61 men of the Cheshire Yeomanry, in early September 1900, he transferred to the Cape Mounted Police who were offering a much higher rate of pay.
