King's Cheshire Legion 1824

Sir John Fleming Leicester reviews his Legion of cavalry and infantry from his grey charger. He wears light dragoon uniform and has an upright plume on his shako. Lancers can be seen behind him and his officers include the commander of the Lance Troop, wearing a red lance cap. One of the officers has a black plume which is probably that of the officer commanding the Stockport Troop. The painting shows the parade on the sands near Liverpool painted by Captain Jones RA in 1824.
