Trooper Fred Paternoster is here mounted on his horse Patric in Trimulgherry, India where the KDG was posted in 1936/7. He holds a lance which was carried by the Troop that formed the front rank when in action. His Wolseley foreign service helmet has a red horse hair tuft on the left side.
