Private William Atkins


William Atkins was killed in action in the forward trenches at Maricourt during intensive German shelling. He served in the 20th Battalion, King’s Liverpool Regiment. The 20th was the 4th City (Liverpool Pals) Battalion. Private William Atkins was buried with 10 other casualties in the Maricourt Military Cemetery, but later his remains were moved to the Cerisy Gailly Military Cemetery.
