Light Company, Other Ranks’ Shako Plate 1829

Other ranks had a less complicated brass star plate; battalion companies having a number 8 in the middle of an edged circle. The plate shown here was worn by the men of the Light Company. The stringed bugle and number 8 is surmounted by the Hanoverian crown. It was replaced in 1839 by a circular design.
