This fine example of the King’s Regiment shoulder belt plate has a similar design to the shako plate adopted in 1844. This plate may have been worn earlier than 1844. It was obviously popular amongst the officers as it was not changed up until the end of the shoulder belts in 1855. The centre of the garter looks very dark but is in fact crimson velvet. The motto NEC ASPERA TERRENT and the title KINGS just below the crown are written in Old English script.
