The brass universal star plate worn by the British Infantry regiments post 1881 had interchangeable centres to denote the regiment. The rank and file of the King’s Liverpool Regiment had a silver horse on a red ground with LIVERPOOL inscribed on the circle. The badge continued in use after 1901 wit the King’s Crown.
