117. Other Ranks’ brass belt plate c1792, based on the Dayes engraving of a Private.
118 Other Ranks’ brass belt plate c1800. Officers had a similar design but the horse was in silver.
119. Other Ranks’ brass belt plate c1830. The officers’ version was in gilt but the horse was silver on a crimson background. The regimental History states that the battle honour NIAGARA was included on a similar design in 1827.
120. Officers’ belt plate. This is the last pattern worn from c1840 up to 1855 when they were no longer worn. The plate is gilt with the horse in silver on a crimson velvet background. The word KINGS is in Old English just below the Victorian crown. The Sphinx of Egypt was a battle honour for the campaign in 1801.
121. Other Ranks’ pewter button c1780.
122. Officers’ button. Flat gilt with the design in relief. c1810
123. Gilt coatee button design prior to 1855 and the tunic button for officers 1855-1881. Other Ranks had this design 1855-1871. The short lived double-breasted tunic of 1855 had this button with the horses facing inwards i.e. two types of button with the horse facing both ways.
