G G Grout was killed in action near Middlesex Kopje, Klip Nek while scouting for the 34th Company Imperial Yeomanry, 13 June 1900. He was shot through the femoral artery (in the thigh). Trooper Grout was buried at Klip Nek. He was a former Middlesex Hussar. His brother also served in the 34th.
