Major’s Mess Jacket

The change in the way rank was indicated in the PPCLI c1975, meant that the shoulder straps had gold lines instead of pips and crowns. Colonels had four thick lines, lieutenant-colonels three thick lines. Majors had two thick and one thin line, captains had two thick lines only. Lieutenants had one thick and one thin, 2nd lieutenants had one thick line. The style was changed to a roll collar with lapels. The cuffs are pointed with a tracing of Russia braid forming a trefoil at the point. Collar and cuffs are in the French grey facings colour. Later examples of the mess dress have collar badges on the lapels.
