Officer’s Jacket 1805

The change to the gold laced closed, short jacket came around 1799 and may have been very similar to this 1805 example. The coloured sketches and notes on the left hand page are from P W Reynolds’ note books. He worked from drawings made by Percy Sumner who saw the jacket on the right at the Earls Court Exhibition of 1901. The sketches and photo show the lace to be flat, and include a gilt ball button with George III’s crown and cypher. At some stage between 1805 and 1815 the flat gold lace was changed to the more three dimensional gold cord which is still worn by the King’s Troop today.
