Officer in Pelisse 1824

The officers of the RHA traditionally wore a uniform that had similarities with the hussars. The pelisse was a distinctive part of hussar uniform and this officer wears a cold weather jacket with fur collar and cuffs. Where it differs from the hussar pelisse is the six gold loops across the chest. The cuffs are decorated with gold. He has undress cossacks with a red stripe down the side and a sword slung from a hidden waist-belt. The white belt on his shoulder could be mistaken for a sword belt but other prints and portraits of officers show the sword to be carried on a waist-belt. Perhaps the artist put the pouch-belt on the wrong shoulder.
