Field Officer’s Dress Jacket c1845. Back View

The back of the officers’ dress jacket reveals a fine array of gold lace and Russia braid. Lines of lace follow the back seams and finish at the waist with tightly formed Austrian knots. Again it is difficult to know whether there was an indication of rank with the use of gold lace. Perhaps ranks of captain and below had thick braid instead of inch wide lace. There was the addition of braided motifs under the arms. This back view also shows the other side of the cuffs and collar.
