Battery Sergeant-Major 1855

BSM Beardsley was photographed in 1855 wearing the old style RHA uniform, having five rows of buttons. The cord braiding was gold for men of his rank, and he has four gold inverted chevrons on each sleeve. Above these are embroidered guns and Victorian crowns. He has a gold and crimson barrel sash and a white leather sword belt hidden beneath his jacket. The pouch-belt is also white leather, and has a black leather pouch on the back. His busby cap lines are red with gold acorn ends. He wears a Crimea medal with pale blue and yellow ribbon. There are three clasps. This medal was produced quickly and rushed out to the Crimea in 1855.
