Officers’ Undress Uniforms 1900

This photograph is taken from the 1900 Dress Regulations. The Patrol Jacket on the left is dark blue with black frogging across the chest and black braid figuring on the pocket and sleeve. Up the back seams of the jacket were double rows of black braid with trefoils at top and bottom. The caption states that this jacket is for Field and Garrison Artillery but the text describes it for the Horse Artillery. The mess jacket is dark blue with a scarlet collar and gold lace around the edges, with a circular design at the bottom of each back seam. This was worn by all RA officers, with differing cuff designs for the officer ranks. The scarlet and gold waistcoat is more elaborate for the Horse Artillery.
