Helmet Badge c1800

The date of this badge is not known but it has the cypher of George III so is before 1820. It probably pre-dates the Regency of 1811. The garter motto has been replaced by the unit title. This may be a copy rather than an actual badge, but the original was worn on the right side of the Tarleton helmet. A surviving officer’s helmet of the post-Waterloo period has no badge but only scrolls inscribed PENINSULA and WATERLOO.
