Collar Makers repaired all the leather straps and parts on the horse harnesses. The 1864 Standing Orders for the RA state; ‘They are to go round the harness of their divisions once a week and see that the stuffing and lining of the saddles are in proper order, and that the body-side of the collars is soft and free from lumps.’ The collars on the draft horses were discontinued at the turn of the century.
