G Battery Badge, Edward VIII

About the same time as E Battery acquired their small Edward VIII badge, a larger silver badge with a different Edward VIII cypher was introduced for wear on the Wolseley helmet by G Battery (Mercer’s Troop) who were also stationed in India. It was reputedly cast from rupee silver. It was worn until replaced by a George VI version in 1937. The E VIII R cypher is somewhat amateurish and very different from the official cypher used by E Battery, but the basic design of the badge has retained the design used in the George V badge.
