Officers’ Undress Sabretache Badge


The plain black leather sabretache worn by all officers of the Royal Artillery and RHA in undress, until 1902 when sabretaches were officially discontinued. This elaborate gilt badge was worn in the middle. It is the Royal arms with the RA gun beneath. The crown of the Royal Crest at the top is the Victorian crown and there are various mottos. HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE around the central shield, DIEU ET MON DROIT below the lion and unicorn. The Artillery mottos of UBIQUE and QUO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT surround the gun.
