Officer’s Shabraque EIIR

The shabraque worn on the chargers ridden by officers of the King’s Troop RHA have a straightforward ER cypher and St Edward’s crown for Queen Elizabeth. The embroidered scroll and motto UBIQUE remains the same as it was in c1840 when this basic design of shabraque was adopted. The gilt gun in this case faces right, towards the front of the horse and it would be safe to assume that the gun on the nearside faced left to match. But other photos of mounted officers taken in the 1990s show guns on both sides facing left.
