Buttons

The basic button design of a crowned garter probably dates back to c1802. The button on the left is Victorian, drawn by Major Parkyn from a ball button on an early corded jacket,j although the garter was actually more circular. After 1855 they wore a button with three guns like the RA. The button on the right is Edwardian and was the design worn from 1873, but with a Victorian crown.
