Galloping Gun Team 1898

This interesting view of a gun team can be dated by the shoulder chains which were adopted by the army in Britain in 1898. The men are in blue undress frock tunics which have red collars. They wear red and blue field service caps and carry water-bottles on a strap slung on the right shoulder. The harness still included the collar at the base of the horse's neck. This was discontinued a few years later when the harness was re-designed.
