Rehearsal 1961

The King’s Troop rehearse at Wormwood Scrubs for the Musical Drive performance at the Royal Tournament at Earls Court. The photo was taken on 24 May 1961, a week before the Royal Tournament opened (31 May - 17 June 1961). The drivers wear the old style khaki service dress with closed collars and khaki forage caps. The lead horse is ridden by a bombardier who appears to be wearing knee boots but they all wear puttees with a metal leg-iron attached to the right leg for protection.
