The Royal Alteration

When King George VI signed the visitor’s book in Officer’s Mess at The Wood he crossed out the word Riding and wrote King’s before signing it. The wording on this page was written by Lieutenant E A Boylan, Left Section Commander at that time. The lower part of the paper, not seen here, has the signatures of various high ranking officers. When Queen Elizabeth acceded to the throne she made it clear that the Troop should continue with that title as a tribute to her father.
