Trumpeter 1858

An early photograph of a trumpeter in the revised dress uniform that had been simplified from that worn before 1855. This trumpeter was probably in G Battery (Mercer’s Troop) which was sent out to India in 1858 during the latter stages of the Mutiny. The wearing of a white pagri around the forage cap was adopted by most units.
