Grenadier 1751

David Morier painted the grenadiers of all the infantry regiments in 1751. This painting is a detail from a group of 3 grenadiers from the 19th, 20th and 21st Regiments. It is useful in that the shade of green can be seen. Not a vivid grass green but more blue-green, especially on the mitre cap. The lace around the button-holes and edges of the lapels and cuffs, was different from the 1742 figure. It is described as 2 red stripes between 2 blue stripes. The waistcoat and breeches are red and the back of the mitre cap is red except for the lower part.
