2nd Battalion Colours 1929

This photo of the 2nd Battalion Colours was taken  at Cairo in 1929. It is probably the RSM who stands in the middle, with a private on either side. The King’s Colour on the left is the Union flag with ten emblazoned battle honours for WW1. The green Regimental Colour has nine battle honours; four on each side of the central device, and one below it. The 9 honours at that time were MALPLAQUET, ALMA, INKERMAN, SEBASTOPOL, RELIEF OF KIMBERLEY, PAARDEBERG,  SOUTH AFRICA 1899-1902, AFGHANISTAN 1919 and BELLEISLE. The Roman numeral II in the top corners signifies the 2nd Battalion.
