Cook's First Voyage

Cook's first voyage was a combination of science and exploration. He was supposed to track the transit of Venus from Tahiti and then go on to search for the Southern Continent. After successfully viewing and recording the transit of Venus, he went on to establish that New Zealand was two distinct islands and was the first European to chart the Eastern Coast of Australia.
