Sub-Antarctic sunrise, South Georgia, 1915

This is a picture taken by Frank Hurley who was the official photographer on Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. This picture was taken on the outward bound journey, but South Georgia would also dramatically become the return point after the voyage had to be abandoned.
