This 1960 photograph shows the "Conference on Migration within a British Caribbean Federation" held in Trinidad. Issues such as migration provided some of the real stumbling blocks to success for the short lived West Indies Federation project. Jamaica and Trinidad felt resentful that they might end up with an influx of migrants from the poorer Federation members. Picture courtesy of the The National Archives |
