British Concentration Camp


A French artist drew this picture of a Boer woman in a British concentration camp, surrounded by a pile of dead Boer children with her fists thrown up in defiance and despair. British and world opinion was shocked at the poor levels of care provided in the South African camps and the government came in for considerable domestic and international criticism as a result.
