Battle of Mirbat in Dhofar War

From 1962 to 1976 the British aided the Sultan of Oman as he attempted to fight off insurgents and left wing rebel separatists. The British supplied military advisers, equipment and even specialist units like the SAS to aid in the insurgency. This image shows the 1972 battle of Mirbat where the SAS base came under attack.
