Jacobites

Many in Scotland had not reconciled themselves to the Glorious Revolution let alone the accession of the Hanoverians. Jacobitism found many followers in Scotland (and many in England also). The victory of the Jacobites at Prestonpans appeared to deliver Scotland to the Jacobite cause only for the invasion of England to stall at Derby. It was the defeat of the Jacobites at Culloden that sealed the fate of Jacobitism in Britain.
