Anthony Jenkinson's Map of Muscovy

This map was compiled by Anthony Jenkinson as he desperately sought river routes as an alternative North-East Passage to the Orient. The map is very optimistic about the prospect but goes all the way down to Bukhara and the Mughal Empire. The rivers appear disproportionately large and long and seem to offer portage possibilities for traders. As Jenkinson was employed by the Muscovy Company it was in his interest to convince investors and traders that these were viable trade routes.
