Battle of Navarino

The Battle of Navarino saw the European powers join forces to defeat a Turkish Fleet as part of the Greek War of Independence. There was great support from the Classically educated Western elites which combined with Russians who sympathised with their co-religionist Orthodox Christians. Britain would later become concerned at the growing power of Russia and switch support towards the Turks and help slow Russian expansion towards the Mediterranean.
