Opium for Export to China


This picture shows opium being prepared in India for export to China. They were prepared into two pound balls which can clearly be seen in this image. Chinese attempts to interrupt this trade led to the Opium War where the more advanced technological capabilities of the British allowed them to impose this trade back on to the Chinese.
