Captain David Moriarty

Captain David Barry Moriarty commanded H Company of the 80th Staffordshire Regiment at the Intombi River disaster on 12th March 1879. His superior officer Major Tucker was not impressed by the defensive laager of wagons that Moriarty and his men had set up. Later the company was attacked by Zulus and Moriarty and 80 men had been killed.
