Private, 1751

Illustration by P W Reynolds from David Morier's painting in the Royal Collection of a private of the 2nd Horse, as they were called while on the Irish establishment. Facings, waistcoat, breeches are dark green. Loops are yellow, buttons, brass and hat lace, gold. The main difference between this and the private of 1742 is the colour of the horse furniture. The shabraque and holster caps is green with a double stripe of white lace, red in the middle. Morier was a Swiss artist employed by the Duke of Cumberland to depict various uniforms of all the regiments in the British Army.
